For all of you that have been waiting for an entry about something other than school stuff...this is not that entry. Hey now I'm supposed to LASSO THE BULL and I win a free IPOD! It seems like you could time it out or something, but even if I DID ACTUALLY lasso the bull, I'm sure they're not going to hand over a free IPOD without requiring something. It's a bummer about these xanga ads. There's no fine print to read until AFTER you lasso the bull or tip the cow or ??? Well at least I know that tomorrow when I log on I'll get another chance. Maybe it'll be poke the pig or shoot the deer or something equally as challenging. I'd love to hear from someone who has actually tried one of these ads. Did you get the free thing? I just finally got rid of Spyware so I'm a little wary. Oh well, that's what I get for letting my husband use my computer.

HEY I did it! I talked about something other than school!!! This is a huge landmark! Thank you, thank you, thank you. You weren't impressed?? Well I didn't say the content was great. I just said it was different. And anything different is good.

Globe update: All in all a pretty successful project. My students are finished with the continents and are labeling their globes for assessment. Next week we start science: states of matter. I'll try to post a picture of the globes when I get a chance.

Okay so do I have any sort of life outside of the classroom? None yet. Check back around Halloween. I find myself looking forward to Friday just to have a break from thinking about school and then I end up bringing school home with me in a little rolling cart. There are always papers to grade, stuff to make, lessons to write. It's endless really, unless I just grant myself time away from it. Today I didn't really do much, but then again I've got a little cold so... I'm really searching for a clever bit of something but alas...nothing. I find myself entranced by the little cows in the ad at the top of the page. How many people actually tip a sleeping cow and honestly think they can win a FREE laptop? hmmmmm

Well thanks to all who offered their newspapers. I found several bins behind the newspaper building containing old newspapers and helped myself. So we should be set. In case you were wondering... I am setting up the 1st mass 3rd grade paper maching at school this year. I think we'll be making around 160 paper mache globes this week. Tomorrow afternoon all of the students, teachers and many parents will be getting our hands messy to promote learning. This is a great project to help students learn basic world geography. I love the hands-on stuff! Wish us luck!!!

I have been trying to get some newspapers for a project at school. It's ironic. When I don't need a paper, they are calling me day and night, and when I do need a paper, I can't get ahold of live person to save my life. Go figure. I am trying to figure out where the local newspaper recycling bins are so that I can raid them for Monday's project. Cause you can't paper mache without the paper.

Yea! Tomorrow's Friday!!! I have almost made it through the first week of school, which is the hardest in case you didn't know. Meeting the kids, learning about the kids, testing the kids, kids testing the teacher, and generally just trying to figure it all out is alot of mental work. I have so much work to do this weekend. I'm pretty sure that I don't have enough hours in the weekend to finish it all. I've seen at least a dozen kids from LifePoint which is fun. Overall, it's nice to be teaching 3rd Graders again. (I have a great bunch!) It's nice to be challenged creatively and intellectually again. (The kids take care of this.) And it's nice to have professional peers again. (I have a wonderful team of 3rd grade teachers to work with.)  What more could a person want? Okay I'd take more pay, but who wouldn't?!
